Early Life
Dr. Ruma Biswas was born into a respected Bengali family in North Bengal. Her early life was filled with culture, artistic expression and academic encouragement. She excelled in her studies while developing diverse talents in singing, dancing, athletics, cooking, debating and quizzing. These formative experiences shaped her into a thoughtful, creative and empathetic individual, instilling in her a lifelong commitment to learning and service.
Education
Dr. Biswas has built an exceptional academic portfolio. She holds eleven postgraduate degrees in English, Psychology and allied disciplines. A graduate of Calcutta University, she also earned a B.Ed., M.Phil. and PhD. She is currently pursuing her twelfth postgraduate degree in Sustainability Science.
With more than sixty published research papers and book chapters, she has established herself as a prolific scholar in the fields of psychology, wellness and mind–body studies.
Personal Life
Despite her extensive professional responsibilities, Dr. Biswas remains deeply connected to her family. She is married and has a daughter who brings joy and balance to her life. She believes in learning rather than earning and approaches her personal and professional journey with humility, gratitude and devotion to service. Her work reflects a lifelong commitment to compassion, healing and inner development.
Career
For more than a decade, Dr. Biswas has worked as a counselling psychologist, psychoanalyst, therapist and certified yoga therapist. She developed an integrated mind–body healing model that focuses on addressing physical issues through psychological interventions and emotional challenges through yogic practices. Her approach combines psychotherapy, meditation, counselling and mindful movement to offer sustainable wellness solutions for lifestyle diseases and mental health concerns.
Her work gained national and international recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic, as thousands sought support through her therapeutic model during periods of stress and emotional upheaval. Although she qualified in several state civil service examinations and held various roles in government and non-government organizations, she ultimately chose to dedicate her life to holistic healing, which she refers to as her sadhana.
She is also a strong advocate for community welfare, offering voluntary counselling and support to NGOs and individuals in need.

Dr. Biswas has received numerous awards for her contributions to psychology, yoga therapy and mental health awareness. She has chaired global conferences, delivered keynote lectures and participated in international academic forums. Her work continues to influence discussions in wellness, healing and psychological resilience.
