Akanksha Chaturvedi (born in 1996) is an Indian entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of Eduauraa Technologies, an edtech company which strives to provide affordable and high-quality education for students across the Indian subcontinent. Chaturvedi emerged as a Gen-Z disruptor in India’s education ecosystem when she turned 25, and has worked towards digitizing education for students from all walks of life. Due to her vision of making education a right rather than a privilege, Eduauraa became one of the key players in India’s edtech industry.
Early Life
Akanksha Chaturvedi was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra in 1996, to a real estate family. Living in the city allowed her to travel across India’s metropolitan cities and understand its socio-economic problems. Her interest in education emerged when during her younger sibling’s tuition, she realized that quality education was highly priced. Studying abroad fueled her passion to come back to India and focus on solving its education challenges
Education
Chaturvedi pursued her undergraduate degree in Urban Planning and Business at University College London (UCL), where she developed a keen interest in how infrastructure and business models can drive societal change. She later earned a master’s degree from Columbia University, focusing on urban planning and education policy. Her academic journey exposed her to global education systems, reinforcing her belief that technology could bridge gaps in India’s education sector. During her time at Columbia, she researched the intersection of technology and education, laying the groundwork for Eduauraa.
Career
Chaturvedi’s entrepreneurial journey started in 2018 after she returned to India post-studies. Her first employment was with the family real estate business where she worked in different roles but did not find interest. An unexpected encounter with an edtech colleague opened her eyes to the world of digital education. She also noted a market gap considering the exorbitant private school fee of ₹55,000 in 2005 skyrocketing to ₹1.25 Lakh in 2015. This prompted her to take action towards quality education of low-cost providing basic education that was priced at ₹419 per month in 2019. Subsequently, in the same year, she established Eduauraa Technologies with a mission to serve India’s 85% population earning under ₹8 lakhs a year.
Eduauraa provides digital education for grades 6 to 12, JEE, NEET examinations, and spoken English, offered in both English and Hindi for nine Indian boards. With over 10 years of teaching experience, Eduauraa’s curates teacher authored content to video lessons, e-books and test papers. In an industry first partnership with ZEE5, Chaturvedi integrated Eduauraa onto an OTT platform which brought it to millions of additional users. The application’s personalization features, powered by AI and machine learning, also facilitate tracking user progress and provide customized learning paths tailored to each individual user. The 2021 edu-tech disruption led to increased affordability and popularity, especially among students from tier 2 and 3 cities. Alongside his other ventures, Chaturvedi is also the Learning Chair for YPO Next Generation (YNG) and serves on the EO Future Leaders Committee where he manages a team of 210 at Eduauraa.
Personal Life
Chaturvedi lives in Mumbai, balancing her private life with her business and leadership activities. She appreciates her family’s support along with her global education as key contributors to her vision and resilience.
