Early Life
Sahil Kapoor was born in the culturally rich city of Amritsar, Punjab, into a family that deeply valued education, creativity, and integrity. His mother an accomplished postgraduate and trained educationist in Dance and his father a hardworking textile printing entrepreneur embodied dedication and discipline. Their commitment to both art and enterprise shaped the environment in which Sahil grew up.
His earliest and strongest values, however, came from his maternal grandparents, who instilled in him honesty, humility, and the importance of self-discipline. These principles became the bedrock of his character, guiding every phase of his journey.
A bright, active, and focused student, Sahil consistently stood out academically, securing top ranks in school and achieving distinctions in Mathematics and Science during matriculation. His talents extended beyond academics, he emerged as the District Gymnastics Champion, reflecting his determination, physical discipline, and multifaceted abilities from a young age.
Career
Sahil Kapoor began his professional career shortly after graduation when he joined Hotel Ritz Plaza as a Business Development Trainee. This early exposure to hospitality management and operational systems laid the foundation for a professional journey spanning nearly two decades across business development, operations, and project management.
Over the years, Sahil has worked with several prominent organizations, including Ambuja Cements, Parle Biscuits Private Limited, Nitco Tiles Limited, and Walmart. At Walmart, he served first as Operations Manager and later as Business Development Manager. These roles enabled him to develop strong expertise in leadership, operational strategy, and large scale project execution.
Drawing on his extensive corporate experience, Kapoor later ventured into entrepreneurship by establishing his own consulting firm focused on the grocery retail sector. Through this firm, he successfully managed end to end retail chain projects, overseeing operations, strategy, and implementation.
A significant turning point in his professional life occurred during his volunteer work with a non governmental organization that supported individuals affected by the misuse of matrimonial laws. Through this engagement, he developed a deep connection with family dispute resolution. Assisting emotionally distressed individuals in navigating complex relational conflicts revealed a calling rooted in empathy, justice, and healing.
Motivated to pursue this new direction, Kapoor transitioned into the field of law. He completed his Bachelor of Laws, followed by a Master of Laws in Family Law and Social Security from Desh Bhagat University. He graduated with distinction and was awarded a Gold Medal for securing first rank in his specialization.
To further strengthen his professional capabilities, he completed an Advanced Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution from NALSAR University of Law in Hyderabad, where he secured first rank, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counseling and Family Therapy from Indira Gandhi National Open University. This combination of legal education, therapeutic training, and emotional intelligence laid the foundation for his current work as a family dispute resolution practitioner and mediator.
Personal Life
Transitioning into a new professional field after the age of forty required perseverance, resilience, and a strong belief in personal purpose. Balancing academic commitments, professional practice, and family responsibilities was challenging, yet Kapoor remained grounded through discipline and determination.
His present work focuses on mediation and family dispute resolution, where he assists individuals in achieving clarity, peace, and closure outside the adversarial framework of traditional court proceedings. His approach emphasizes emotional understanding, privacy, dignity, and respectful dialogue.
Achievements and Recognition
Sahil Kapoor’s contributions have received recognition across legal, academic, and professional platforms. His doctoral research titled Reforming Family Law A Critical Study on the Necessity of Mandatory Mediation in Matrimonial Disputes and Its Legislative Viability in India advocates for mandatory mediation as the first step in resolving matrimonial disputes.
He has been featured by Entrepreneurs of India and has published scholarly work in the International Journal of Dispute Resolution. He is also the author of multiple electronic books focusing on matrimonial dispute management.
His academic achievements include receiving a Gold Medal in the Master of Laws program and securing first rank in the Advanced Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution. During his corporate career, he received the Best Operations Team Award at Walmart and undertook a sponsored professional visit to the United States in 2011.
He has served as a judge for national mediation competitions at institutions including ILSCA Pune and Maharaja Agrasen Institute, Delhi.
